AUTO ACCIDENT HURTS PROVE FATAL TO WOMAN

Mrs. Mae Wilkins, 43 years old, 111 West Vermont street, died Sunday night in the Methodist hospital of injuries suffered Sunday morning when an automobile which she was driving plunged over a fifteen-foot embankment near Mooresville, Ind. Funeral arrangements have not been announced. Mrs. Anna Pitts, 143 West Vermont street, and her two children, Vonda and Sylvester, were riding with Mrs. Wilkins but were uninjured. Mrs. Wilkins is survived by her three children, Walter, Frank and Wilma; three sisters, Mrs. Jean Prang of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Jack Stone and Miss Gertrude McOuat of Indianapolis, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McOuat.

Walter E. Wilkins dies;
amateur astronomer

Services for Walter E. Wilkins, 88, an honored amateur astronomer, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel, with calling from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

A lifelong Indianapolis resident, he died Thursday in Community Hospital.

Mr. Wilkins was an engineer for Indiana Bell Telephone Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1966.

A member of the Indiana Amateur Astronomical Society, he edited its monthly newsletter for 40 years.

Recently, in Philadelphia, Ind., a new observatory was named after him to honor his service to the society.

Mr. Wilkins was a charter member of DeMolay. He taught a telescope-making course at Indiana Central University.

He was a member of Irvington Presbyterian Church, Irvington Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Scien-Tech Club.

Survivors: wife, Margaret Wilkins; sons, William D. and Allen John Wilkins.

WILKINS — In San Jose, Calif., Jan. 5, 1962, Frank E. Wilkins, beloved husband of Mildred R. Wilkins of San Jose; loving brother of Walter Wilkins and Wilma Grabhorn; dear nephew of Miss Gertrude McQuat, all of Indiana. A member of Irvington Lodge 666, F&AM. A native of Indiana, age 55 years.

Services Monday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Darling-Fischer Garden Chapel, 471 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose, under auspices of the Masonic Lodge.
